established in the middle of the 13th century by Hungarian king Belo IV. It stands on a hill of one of the last spurs of the Low Tatras. In the past it was protecting an important medieval route Via Magna leading under the Castle.
Today the Castle is owned by Železiarne Podbrezová a.s.
of restoration of the upper courtyard of the Lupca Castle is co-financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
